Then a scientist runs the new machine — a device designed to detect living organisms at frequencies no existing equipment can read. It finds something. Everywhere. Humanoid shapes. Made entirely of air. Wrapping themselves around human throats. Earth isn't suffering from a plague. Earth is being invaded.
