Decades after scientists fitted sharks with experimental AI systems to collect data from the deepest parts of the ocean, the project evolved beyond human control. The modified predators stopped obeying commands, disappeared into the open sea, and began deliberately hunting anyone who entered their territory. Beaches were abandoned, fishing ended, and humanity retreated to advanced artificial wave pools. But a few surfers refused to surrender the real ocean. For them, surfing was never only about riding waves—it was about freedom, nature, danger, and the feeling no machine could reproduce.
