The Language of Captivity

Every civilization begins as an answer to fear. We invent gods, institutions, rituals, hierarchies, not because we understand the unknown, but because uncertainty is unbearable. Eventually, the invention outlives the fear that created it. The ritual becomes law. The law becomes identity. Identity becomes obedience. And the strangest form of captivity is the one that teaches you to defend your own confinement. Perhaps becoming free is not breaking the system. Perhaps it is becoming conscious enough to realize that the system has already learned to speak in your own voice.
